Here we have CARONI! Petrol. Diesel. Oil. Lets just get those out of the way, because you know they’re there. Aside from these classical notes, I’m inclined to say bacon. There is a meaty smokiness that jumps out at me along with salt. Vanilla, maple syrup, leather and pipe tobacco. Liquorice root. Fruits are there, but they are dried and cured. Think raisins, dates and figs. Perhaps some plum with a hint of green apple? There is also a sourness going on, almost like smelling an algae-covered old piece of drift wood washed up on a salty beach in say…Trinidad?
On the palate I instantly get rubber mixed with green apples. Petrol. Pear drops. The meatiness is less dominant on the palate, although there are definitely leather characteristics shining though. Freshly cracked black pepper. Black current tea. Pineapple skins…and wood. Chewy wet wood. Finish is extremely long, going from rubber to fruits, to meat back to fruits and then fading off with the typical Caroni car park funkiness that I have learned to love.
A personal favourite of mine. Also convenient that it comes in a 1.5L bottle.
